Profile Extrusion Workshop
This 2-day course is intended for anyone involved with the design and operation of profile
extrusion systems. All attendees of the course will get an improved understanding of the
behaviour of the material within the equipment. It will teach attendees a systematic approach
using CAE tools for analysis and troubleshooting. The course will begin with a brief
introduction of material properties, material behaviour in the extruder and a general overview
of design and performance requirements.
One of the most challenging aspects of extrusion is the efficient design of profile dies.
Compuplast has developed a unique approach to the problem that has been proven to reduce
most profile die development time by at least 50%. The attendees will be shown the
Compuplast® Cross Flow Minimization Method for profile die design and how to apply the
CFMM using the VEL Profile Die module. There is a new possibility in the new version 6.2
which can simulate the more traditional methods of balancing profile dies. The Cooling
module will also be shown how to us it and how to design cooling.
The attendees will learn:
- Basic rheology and material properties.
- How to use the RheoCalcutor Module.
- Design criteria for avoiding the most common problems.
- How to perform quick calculations for fast analysis of channel sizing.
- The COMPUPLAST® Cross-Flow Minimization Method™ of designing profile dies.
- How to apply and use the FLOW 2000 Profile Die Module and Cooling Module.
